To borrow from the popular musical, "Sound of Music", let's start at the very beginning. My name is Kelsey Pagel, founder of Sustainable Bites, LLC along with my husband Matt, commonly referred to as My Forever. I grew up on a farm and ranch in Northeast Kansas, as did he. Both my mother and father are self employed farmers. They started from scratch and have been growing their farm ever since. I grew up with cow/calf pairs, pigs, corn, soybeans, wheat, brome hay and native hay. Matt grew up on a multi-generational farm (he is the 3rd generation) with much the same animals and crops. I attended Cloud County Community College and Kansas State University and graduated in May 2013. Matt attended and graduated (May 2010) from Highland Community College. During his college days he would come home and help, knowing that farming is what he wanted to do in his life. Matt and I got married in October of 2013 in the middle of my Grandma's hayfield. My outdoor wedding dream was not even close to comparing to the absolute beautiful and perfect wedding that we actually had. Matt is in partnership with his parents and grandma in their farming operation. I work with My Forever and my father-in-law a large majority of the time.

We are living OUR dream. We are farmers. We help to produce the food that arrives on your plate. We care a great deal about our animals, environment, land and the safety of the food we produce. We care about all of these things because the same food that arrives on your plate, is the same food that we put onto our own dinner tables for our families. We want a safe and healthy product to feed to our families, the same as you want for your families. Bottom line, farming is our livelihood and a lifestyle choice that is not easy! We love this way of life and wouldn't have it any other way.

Our farm uses a holistic approach. We think about everything as being intimately interconnected. On our farm we make use of cover crops on all our acres of farm ground. We truly care about what is happening below the soil all the way up through what we can see on top of the ground. We think about how we can utilize everything we have to care for to improve it. We want to keep a living root in the ground as much of the year as we possibly can. If the soil on our farm isn't healthy, what we're growing on it isn't going to be either. It is all about how we take care of that resource. We are learning and soaking in as much information as we can and transitioning to a much more sustainable approach to farming.

Sustainable Bites, LLC formed so we can get our farm fresh products directly to YOU! There is less than 2% of the American population involved in the production of our food. There is a lot of misinformation out there and we want to be able to be a resource for you and explain WHY we do what we do on our farm. Please let us know ANY questions you have about how or why we produce our products. We are here for you. Thank you for time and we look forward to working directly with you!
